Preparing for the shoot takes a while. Firstly I research which outfit Sindy would look great wearing. Then I find fabrics, (reproducing the pattern myself if necessary), make the patterns and sew the outfit. Sometimes the outfit is made several times to make sure it fits well and the proportions are right. Then I find the right doll. Thankfully I have a very talented good friend Jules who provides me with a beautiful custom doll if I don’t use one of my own creations, and then I find the right accessories if needed and then style the doll.
I make a lot of the backgrounds and I use as many original Sindy props as I can. Otherwise I use other props that I’ve collected over the years which I used for photographing dolls for Sindy Magazine. (I also sometimes borrow my daughter’s playsets if she lets me!)
